Introduction

Under Construction

After a prolonged dry period, water catchment areas can receive significant flushes of agricultural herbicides and pesticides. These organic contaminants can include:

THM Trichloromethane

Chloroform & Bromoform

Dichloromethane, Dibromoethane,etc, etc.

Water treatment plants traditionally use turbidity as a measure of their presence. However there are occasions when the 'first flush' has been clear and has created dosing problems with the treated water. organic compounds are hard to treat because of their high chlorine denmand.

The Micromac SAC addresses these problems by reading, on-line the SAC (Spectral Absorption Co-efficient) coupled with the water colour.

The unique filtering system supplies fresh filtered water to the analyser for continuous updates of both parameters.

Reporting the presence of the out of spec. raw water allows the operator to decide the best course of action, isolate or dump and not leave the plant, with treated water that is incorrectly dosed.

Measures

SAC – Spectral Absorption Co-efficient in municipal raw water as a measure of dissolved organics. Colour in raw water.
