UV-C Anti-Biofouling Accessory

This is the next generation of hybrid anti-biofouling that JFE have developed for the long-term deployment of their sondes.

The UV-C ultraviolet light (UV-C) irradiation kit can be attached to the JFE Infinity series of oceanographic sondes. This includes cabled and stand-alone battery-operated sondes.

Combined with the existing wiper mechanism for removal of biofouling, it provides a very effective combination for preventing bio-fouling by removing both algae and the more difficult ‘inorganic’ organisms such as barnacles that cement onto optical surfaces. The wide view UV-C LED ensures a larger area around the optic surface is free of bio-fouling.

This system can be used in delicate marine environments such as reef atolls as both mechanisms do not use harmful biocides or copper poisoning to prevent the biofouling buildup.

Harmful Plankton Detector HAI Sensor

The JFE HAI sensor (Harmful Algal Indication sensor) is designed to identify two phytoplankton species that are well-known to cause harmful blooms in estuary areas: Karenia mikimotoi and Chattonella antiqua. Both of these species can affect fish farming activities.

The instrument takes advantage of the Fluorescence spectral Shift Index (FSI)* of these two species that is relatively high when compared to other species.

Berghof Reactor Controller

One controller for everything

The BRC controller offers quick access to all important parameters and the possibility to switch electrical valves directly from the controller. The Auto Tunning function makes it easy to determine PID control values easily determind specifally for your system. Fluctuations in target termperature are reduced by over 80%, resulting in better reproducibility and fewer unwanted by-products. With modular extensions, the BRC can be individually adapted to your needs.
