Lab Scale Subcritical Water Extraction System

SKU: SFX500W Category:

Introduction

Subcritical water extraction provides an ideal medium to extract more polar groups compared to the traditional supercritical CO2 extraction process. The use of water as an extraction carrier is a cheap and sustainable process compared to sourcing high purity cyrogenic CO2.

Less polar compounds such as cannabinoids, phytosterols and alkaloids require much higher temperatures for extraction.

Compound isolation is possible by using a temperature gradient during extraction.

Features

  • The SFX500 comprises an inconel subcritical extraction vessel coupled with a HP pump that delivers the extractant to a cooled separator (50 deg C) via an Automated Back Pressure Regulator (ABPR).  Heat exchangers and a condensor regulate the temperature of the sbW in the circuit.
  • Static and dynamic extractions can be programmed.
  • An extractor stirrer can be added for better extraction efficiencies.
  • The extractor is housed in an insulated oven for safety and to maintain precise extraction temps.
  • A cold trap maintains a temp below 40 Deg C for the collected product.

Measures

Used for extraction from plants, food by-products, marine algae and fungi of polyphenols, flavoids, sugars, gyclosides and natural products.
