Introduction

Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) represents a fast and efficient chromatographic technique to separate and purify the components in a carbon dioxide carrier without using large quantiies of solvents.

Unlike HPLC with solid- liquid interaction, SFC is more closely aligned to a gas-liquid interaction.

High pressure pumps, specific columns, detectors and fraction collectors are used to separate the purified compounds.

Separations can be fine tuned by selective additives to work with the CO2 and using isocratic or binary conditions.
