Introduction
The Acorn Area is designed to measure the surface area of nano particles dispersed in liquid.
Importantly this is achieved in solution and without dilution.
It is independent of fluid colour and fluid RI.
Features
Liquid in contact with the particle behaves differently from that of the bulk (free) liquid in response to a changing magnetic field. 0.5 mLs of sample is placed in the sample tube, magnetic field applied and the transverse and longitudinal relaxation times measured.
Surface area is calculated direct from these measurements.
There are 2 operational modes:
- QC direct output of surface area measured
- R&D mode where the instrument behaves as a traditional NMR spectrometer capable of a wide range of low resolution NMR measurements
.
Measures
Surface area in m2/g in approx. 5 minutes on nanoparticle emulsions and suspensions.
